Handsies for Pansies!

Handsies for Pansies! Get it ? --   Hands for Pans! Sometimes, you have to spell it out!

These oven mitts are not so cumbersome as others  -- because they are shorter on the hand! It is pattern P193.

Hot pepper fabric  - love it!

Love the eggplant and turnip fabrics!
Or the turnip and broccoli fabric!
The foody fabric choices available is what makes oven mitts so fun to make!

The collar on the Dude Baby bib!

Several sewers have had questions about the collar on Dude Babies (P189). So here's some pics that might help!
With right sides together, align the  collars to the bib panel. Make sure there are 1/4" seam allowances in the very center. Sew the edges shown.

Fold a collar up and press   - with seam allowances down.
With right sides together, align another collar piece as shown above, pin. Sew around the edges - notice the red thread seams.
Remove pins. Clip corners. Turn right side out.
Make one very precise 1/4" cut in the very center.
Fold the raw of the open part under and hand sew from the center to the pink arrow.
Of course, you do this for right and left sides of the collar!!

"Really, really" behind the scenes!

This is Kirsten, who is really behind the scenes, in our ugly, messy garage slash shipping department assembling patterns! She is one of things that really keeps the place running. On the good side, she watches movies while she does this completely mundane work!

Easy Slider!

My laptop backpack called "Easy Slider" has a great technique. When you put the back on, there are loops at the top of the satchel that the straps slide through, making and keeping the opening closed and secure.

The straps slide through the loops to keep the satchel closed.
